Lynnwood Neighborhood Center
Community Center
The Lynnwood Neighborhood Center, developed by Volunteers of America, is a 35,000 SF community center that represents a compassionate approach to community building. This multi-purpose building graciously exhibits a light-filled central interior courtyard as its primary circulation. This LEED Gold, 2-story community center provides flexible event spaces, 2 different early education programs, Boys and Girls Club, and office spaces for a variety of non-profits and social service programs directed at supporting local families and immigrants seeking a better life. Ryan served as Project Manager and Project Architect during redesign efforts and permitting.
After the project stalled during the Covid-19 pandemic, the ownership group changed and revised the project program. Ryan was brought in to lead redesign efforts to harmonize the existing design with the revised owner program and shepherd the project through CDs and permitting. Through a collaborative, holistic approach toward lighting, natural ventilation, material selection, and compassion for the user experience, this project is slated to achieve LEED Gold certification.
This project seeks to provide a humble legacy of service to south Snohomish county with a building that is proud to respect the environment while providing supportive services to the local people who need it most. The project is currently under construction.
